Free tickets are waiting in your Ticketmaster account right now. No, we are serious and here are the details.
As part of a settlement in a class-action lawsuit accusing Ticketmaster of charging excessive fees, the ticketing company is paying out millions of dollars worth of free tickets and discounts to past ticketing customers.
If you’re one of the 50 million people who bought tickets on Ticketmaster.com between October 21, 1999 and February 27, 2013 (and paid the higher than normal fees), then you should have received a voucher for free tickets — or multiple pairs of free tickets.
To check for the free tickets, all you have to do is log in to your Ticketmaster account and click the “Active Vouchers” link on the left side of the page. If you have free tickets, they’ll be listed on the Active Vouchers page as a “Free Ticket Code.”
Full disclosure, the free tickets come with some fine print. For example, you’ll only be able to redeem the codes for “eligible events” on a first-come, first served basis before the expiration dates. No one knows what shows this applies to yet so stay tuned for more information.
